Let’s face it, there are a lot of apps out there –  from seeing what you look like with purple hair to turning off the lights in your house, there is an app for almost everything. But which ones are actually worth downloading?

You know that high quality images are super important for making your social feeds stand out (read more here) and you know how to take a high quality photo on your iPhone (read more here), but how do you edit your pics like a pro? Here are three of our favourite photo editing and design apps.

A Color Story

This app has a range of free filters and effects that can quickly transform your images. There are also add-on packages available to purchase. It’s easy to navigate around so it’s great for those who aren’t super tech-savvy.

Snapseed

This is a free app for aspiring photographers. It is installed with incredible filters including ones you can’t even achieve with Photoshop. It’s easy to use and produces professional results – iPhone Photography says it is the most popular image editing app available.

Snapseed differs to A Color Story in the kind of filters available – more dramatic, rather than bright and vibrant. 

VSCO Cam

VSCO Cam is an editing app with an interactive edge. This app has hundreds of filters and tools to get creative with your photos, as well as a feature that allows you to create your own profile and share your pictures with the VSCO Cam community. Being part of this community means you can find inspiration in checking out how other members have edited their own images.

You can take photos directly into the app using a toolbar that has more options available than your iPhone camera, such as clicking a large bar on the bottom of the screen to capture the photo instead of a small circle that your finger might miss.
